Tuesday, 10 March 2009 13:34
In addition to the 25 institutions which make up the core project membership, the RACE networkRFID network has also created an extended membership which any Institution, Organisation or Commercial Entity with an interest in RFID, may apply to join.
By operating an open application process for additional Associate Members, RACE networkRFID seeks to become a federating platform to the benefit of all European Stakeholders in the development, adoption and usage of RFID.
Ideal candidates to become Associate Members are organisations with particular expertise in the field of RFID related technologies, or in areas that could benefit for the use deployment of RFID to improve business and services to consumer and companies.
To join the network as Associate Member, please fill in an APPLICATION FORM to present your organisation and your interest/motivation to join the network.
Application results will be made available within 6 weeks.

Whats the difference between Contractual and Associate Memberships?
RACE networkRFID involves both Contractual Members and Associate Members. The Contractual Members are signatory to the contract with the European Commission, and Associate Members are partner organisations joining the network after its contractual start (1 March 2009).
As Member of the General Assembly, Associate Members will be invited to vote on specific matters concerning the network, and in particular:
- Annual validation of the work performed by the Management Board
- Approval of the General Assembly budget and discretionary fund use
- Any other matter
However only Contractual Members will be allowed to vote on the following points
- the admission of new organisations as " Associate Members"
- the modification to the Contract and Technical Annex and
- modifications to the Consortium Agreement.
Note that Associate Members do not receive monetary support directly from the network.
RACE networkRFID membership agreements
In order to ensure that Associate Members can genuinely engage with the project in the ways outlined above, Associate Membership Agreements which formalise these opportunities have been created.
The document is a collaboration agreement between the Associate Members and the RACE networkRFID Coordinator.
If you, on behalf of your institution, do decide to apply to become an Associate Member, the process is as follows:
